Let us be kind to one another. Let us be kind to creators and performers and everyone who must have poured their hearts and souls into this massive, impossible thing.
Let us remember that we are owed nothing, and that artists exist to create art, and not necessarily to please us.
Let us be in this thing together. Let us hold sticky, nervous, popcorn hands in the dark tomorrow (or Friday or whenever you have the damn time), and be in this together.
The point of this thing, from the very beginning, was “hope.” Let’s devour reviews and Twitter remarks, sure, (that is part of who we are, after all), but let us continue to foster hope. To hope to still see as much of what we love as we are able to. It’s not that this thing belongs to us, it’s that this thing is a part of us.
No one can take this thing away from us, even if this installment is not what we want it to be.
Let us be the creatures that Luke Skywalker would want us to be, okay? Let us be kind and brave and thoughtful in the face of monsters.
(Let us not spoil things, because c’mon, we are better than that.)
May the Force Be With Us. Always.
